The 'May I do Stuff' is a write and race activity usually done in groups.
The teachers give the first student the situation 'You are hungry' and they bring that message to their group.
The group thinks of a response and then the second student brings that response to a teacher. 'I'm hungry. May I have some rice?'
The teacher says 'Sure' and gives the next situation. The activity continues with the third student bringing the next request.
The 'May I take a picture' is a challenging dialogue making activity. The students work in pairs to practice the dialogue and pick their roles.
One takes the role of a student and the other a foreign travel met in Kyoto. They change the dialogue a little, practice it and then come to the teacher and have the dialogue.
When I demonstrate it with the teacher I also include gestures and enthusiastic responses to encourage the kids to do it the same way.
